WoW Wednesday! Laud for B16, Red Flags in Relationships, & a Lenten Checklist

When I was little, I was a big believer in “Wednesday is wedding day,” a decree passed around my 1st grade class ordaining that the boy you happened to walk next to during the day became your husband. Just until the next Wednesday, though. I’m pretty sure the boys were oblivious to the girls and our giddiness when we took just one in-sync step with our grade school crushes. Just a thought – does your husband or wife know that you have a BIG CRUSH on him/her?

ANYWHO…done with the anecdotes and on to the Wisdom!

First things first. This video has been around, but it’s remarkably touching. Pope Benedict XVI is beloved and will be missed. Thank God for his pontificate! Please, please pray that the College of Cardinals will be guided by the Holy Spirit in selecting our new pope!

We all need to vent don’t we? Even when it comes to marriage, sometimes we need a good sounding board/friend to hear us out and keep us grounded. Hallie Lord at Moxie Wife wrote a great post a couple of weeks ago about what makes her friend Jennifer Fulwiler a perfect go-to for marital advice. Her 7 listed qualities are great for us all to have and seek in a good friend.

And speaking of advice, The Art of Manliness recently covered 14 Red Flags to Look Out for in a Relationship. Dating, married, or even single, this post provides some raw insight into what men should avoid in women. And if you’re a female fan, the list hints at qualities you might want to nip in the bud or avoid in a significant other of your own!

We’re a week into Lent and how are you doing with your Lenten promises? I’ve been doing pretty well with praying every morning and lemme tell ya – it’s miraculous how it improves my day and mood! Anyway, it’s usually around this time that I reassess what I’ve given up because it’s either too much or too little. Though I know I’m biased toward Truth & Charity, Mary Walker is hands-down one of my favorite bloggers. She’s cool, she’s casual, she’s conversational, and very importantly, she’s intelligent. Her recent post on Lent’s “awesomeness” has a handy checklist for your motivation for whatever commitments you’ve made this season. Don’t miss it!
p.s. Truth & Charity is in the TOP 5 of About.com’s Catholicism Readers’ Choice Awards! Click HERE to vote!! Congratulations to my husband, the Editor in Chief, and all the contributors for being recognized for their awesome work!
