And we’re back!! Just a small handful of the wisdom out there, but let me tell ya – all three of these bits pack a spiritual punch that you won’t want to miss.
1) Cardinal Dolan’s 10-Step Guide to Holiness
Holiness is not some lofty, impossible ambition. While the road may be challenging because we have to overcome ourselves, the approach itself is simple. God wants us all to be holy and in following these clear steps with diligence and hope, closeness to God and the bliss of devotion is something we can all experience.
2) “Let us never give in to pessimism, to that bitterness that the devil tempts us with every day.” – Pope Francis
Oh how perfectly this resounds with me. Write it down and stick it on the fridge – it’s time we were more aware of just who drags us down in day-to-day living. The domestic life – husband, kids, house – can be pretty arduous sometimes; and especially when it comes to our interactions with spouses and little ones, it’s easy to be a little more raw than sweet if we’re feeling spent from the daily grind. But God is not the author of bitterness or pessimism. He is not the voice of doubt and dismay. In all circumstances of such negativity, recall that it is Satan who wants to drag us down, divide us from those we love, and more than anything else, separate us from God. Which is a great segue into the next bit of Wisdom…
3) ‘How’s the joy in your home?’ Pope Francis asks families
I saw this headline and immediately did a facepalm. How’s the joy in my home? It could be better, but thanks to Pope Francis’s rather pointed question, I was forced to examine my own behavior as a wife and mother. My kids are naturally joyful and I know Andrew and I could cultivate joy between the two of us and within our home if we were more deliberately loving, merciful, and patient. Do not miss this encouraging advice from our Holy Father.
