Another awesome week for Words of Wisdom!
How many times were you told to “offer it up” as a kid? As an adult, it’s still a challenge for me to grasp this idea so I was excited to see that my sister posted this piece on Facebook about Redemptive Suffering; adding the insight, “Our world does not see the value in suffering. This is a great post on why it is so good for us.” Complete with inspiring stories of saints, read and learn, take up your cross, and follow Christ!
Impurity and pornography are pretty sensitive subjects all around, but ones that need to be addressed. Andrew wrote “Four Surprising Things the Church Doesn’t Use to Define Pornography,” outlining the Church’s definition of and making clarifications as to what is and isn’t required something to be considered pornographic. A straightforward, to-the-point piece that has compelled so many already!
I got a huge kick out of Erin Franco’s piece on basically saying Yes to the Mess of mommyhood and marriage. She makes the true point that it’d be so easy to complain about your husband or count the minutes til nap time to escape the kids; OR you could dive into the chaos to humbly live your vocation. There have been way too many times when someone near and dear receives a huge blessing from God and, instead of rejoicing with them, I slap on a fake smile to cover up my grumbling jealousy. Mary Walker over at Truth & Charity wrote The Art of Being Happy for Others which articulates awesome insight into why people react with envy first, rather than enthusiasm.
