I’m pretty active on Pinterest. My go-to for home improvement fantasies, gift ideas, and thousands of recipes I won’t live long enough to cook, it’s become a place where the well of inspiration never runs dry.
And thank God for that! Among the multitude of fashion and beauty pins, the most brilliant gems I’ve found are the Catholic memes and quotations. Just searching for St. Therese or Padre Pio or John 3:16 yields enough results for a quick retreat. I have a board full of Catholic [p]inspiration reminding me that “Holy Communion is the shortest and safest way to heaven” and how to tell the difference between God’s voice and Satan’s voice in my heart (see below). Of course, with such a vast collection of wisdom wrapped up in graphics or even stand-alone photos, it’s easy to breeze through a Pinterest board with a quick sigh and dismiss each one as spiritually flowery; but take each one on its own, mull it over, read it again and again throughout the day to gain new insight, print it off, frame it, or send it to your whole contacts list, and let your soul be changed.
Some of my favorites:
It’s true that Pinterest, like any social media, can be a fantastic waste of time when overused. Shoot – the Lord knows this immoderation abides in me; but as much as it can be a personal downfall, it can be a soul’s uprising as well, especially when it comes to matters of faith. And for any other Pin-aholics out there, spreading Catholic memes and insight is a way to evangelize and share the joy of Christ in the Church.

I like to take an image or quote for each day and put it on my desktop as my reflection for the day–that helps me keep it in mind.

(oh, I should tell you I’m Betty’s older sister–my husband Chuck is a friend of your sister Jen.)

I know! That’s too funny that you mention it, b/c I thought about telling you about our connection. BTW, I <3 Betty. That girl is too sweet; and of course I remember "Pumpkin" from BC. He was hilarious - I presume he still is 🙂
