Episode 4! On the road of healing and just generally trying to be a good spouse, I realized we’ve had a fantastic tool from the very start of our marriage. Irreplaceable and it covers a whole lot of bases.

This was SO great! Something you can do daily and also when preparing for confession. Considering your vows would even be a great tool to employ during an argument, disagreement or fight. Am I honoring him? Respecting him? Loving him through thick and thin? Cherishing him?
What about when your marriage IS flourishing? During times of richness, health and goodness? I know I’ve been guilty of being a green-eyed monster from time to time, even in my relationship with my husband. Sometimes jealousy can take root as your spouse gets another promotion but you are struggling in your own career or vocation. Maybe he is healthy and vivacious but you have a hard time just getting through the day. She has more alone time, he has more friends, he’s at a spiritual high point, she gets to spend more time with the kids. It’s hard to love when things are tough…but it can be equally hard to love when everything “seems” just right. By examining our vows, we can stop those seeds of jealousy from sprouting into resentment and discontent.
I’m TOTALLY going to use this tool in my marriage!

I love this. My husband and I celebrated ten years in November and while our marriage is in a really good place right now, there’s always room for improvement, right? I’ll definitely be adding this to my evening prayers this year. Thank you!

Oh I love that idea of adding them to your evening prayers! Such a good idea. I hope to arrange them in some sweet typography and then print/frame them for our room. It’d be good to have decor that calls us back to the beginning.
