The only proper attitude to have is love…
Which means it’s fine to disagree, but not dig up old hurts.
Which means it’s ok to feel hurt, but not to dishonor our husbands with our speech.
Which means that we’re empowered to go beyond ourselves to see them experience a little bit of peace and relief.
Which means we apologize and accept apology.
Which means we respect ourselves when we respect them.
Which means making ourselves vulnerable and being open to receiving their hearts.
Because we vowed we would.
I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.
Today’s the day to go the extra mile and show those men of ours they’re worth the effort. Let’s set our desires aside, entrusting them to Jesus, and imitate his love and mercy to the ones whose hearts and work he entrusted to us. If there’s ever been a time to die to ourselves for the sake of our handsome vocations, it’s Holy Week.
Jesus I trust in You. Purify my heart so I may be a channel of your selfless love to my husband. Amen.
