A few years ago, I might have taken this as an out – an excuse for not doing my best, not pushing my limits, not getting over myself to attend the needs of Andrew or the kids.
But St. Jerome said we should offer what we can. And if you’re anything like me, what you can is a bit more that what you allow yourself. I could probably try a little harder.
It’s not like we’re lazy – we’re tired, right? And for good reason. So many of us are taking on efforts that are beyond ourselves, we might feel alone, we might feel too crowded, there’s so much we do in the name of loving our families, our husbands. There’s simply not enough time.
And it’s here St. Jerome offers hope when there otherwise would be none. It might hurt to do what we 100% can – to max ourselves out – but know that there’s Someone eager to pick up what we drop.
So here – if you feel like you’re barely surviving, if you’re facing a million paths and you have no clue which way to go, if your to-dos surpass your can-dos. Give it to Jesus. Invite him to share the load. I promise you he wants to.
