School has resumed! Andrew is spending the week at his inservice, which means that FINALLY, after Liam’s birth and baptism, my postpartum recovery, and our little family’s chaotic move into our first house, life has settled into what will be considered normal. I’ve been so on top of things today as well!
As a small, extra source of income, I’ve started watching my niece Mary, who is just 6 weeks younger than Liam. Right now I’m enjoying the peace their simultaneous naps and the satisfaction of a good snack and a clean kitchen. I am so much happier now than I was even last week because I have certainty and routine in front of me. While Andrew was home, we were without individual and common routines. Aside from Liam’s eat/play/sleep schedule, not a single event of the day happened at the same time, which led to irritability on my part. Now things are much more predictable and manageable, enabling me to increase the quality and frequency of my prayer. What relief! It seems that the soul, no matter how disorganized, still desires structure and is content when that is realized.
